What we offer

HACER works independently, and in collaboration with other research partners, to design, implement and disseminate research. Frequently, researchers generate information in English, limiting dissemination to the mainstream for the most part. HACER's approach to research is Latino friendly--it is bilingual, and allows for reciprocal information sharing with Latinos as well as with the broader communities.

Speakers Bureau

HACER provides interactive presentations for meetings, workshops, conferences and events. Our bilingual public speakers are well-versed on a wide range of topics that pertain to the Latino community(ies). Sample presentation titles are as follows:

Training

HACER is a vital research, training and resource organization serving the Latino community. Based on our mission, we envision the continuous development of culturally competent researchers who go on to become leaders.

Project Examples

Migrant Worker Housing: Survey Results from South-Central Minnesota

HACER worked in collaboration with Centro Campesino and the Center for Urban and Regional Affairs at the University of Minnesota, to produce this report which examines the current housing conditions for migrant workers. This report has been used to strengthen housing development efforts.

Disparities in Health Access: Voices from Minnesota's Latino Community

This report represents the synthesis of findings from 11 rural and 4 metro-area Latino focus groups and was the lead story for WCCO-TV evening news. Most importantly; however, is that the report's findings, and the issues it raises, makes it accessible and relevant for years to come.

El Proyecto Seguro: A Crime Prevention Project of the Minneapolis Police Department Project Evaluation

HACER designed and implemented multiple methods to evaluate the appropriateness and effectiveness of this community-based crime prevention project that involves Latino participants. Evaluation results have been used to modify and improve the project's approach.
